Introduction to Centrifugal Pumps
This online engineering PDH video presentation discusses the fundamentals of centrifugal pumps. This course describes the functions, main components and characteristics of centrifugal pumps, and presents the typical problems which arise for similar pumps and the appropriate methods to solve them.
Pumps are integral components of almost every industrial system. In order for a fluid or a gas to flow, there must be a pressure difference between the two; pumps create this pressure differential.
Centrifugal pumps are the most common type of pumps found in many facilities. They enjoy widespread application partly to their ability to operate over a wide range of flow rates and pump heads. Moreover, their simple construction and low maintenance and cost have made centrifugal pumps the ideal pump for widespread commercial applications.
This 3 PDH online video presentation is intended primarily for mechanical engineers, as well as for engineers of different backgrounds who are interested in learning more about centrifugal pumps, and the different types and components used in various engineering applications.
This continuing education video presentation is intended to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Familiarizing with how a centrifugal pump works
- Learning about the main components of centrifugal pumps
- Exploring different impeller and centrifugal pump designs
- Learning how to read a pump performance curve
- Gaining an overview of common pump faults and the methods to solve them
