Upon successful completion of the “Engineering Laws, Rules and Ethics for Florida Professional Engineers” course, CED will report your PDHs to the FBPE by the subsequent month from course completion. For users completing this course during the month of February 2025, their PDHs will be reported to the FBPE in February 2025. Therefore, it is imperative that you indicate your Florida PE license number in your CED account so that we can successfully report your PDHs for this course.
This online engineering PDH live webinar is a FL approved Engineering Laws, Rules and Ethics course (FL Course No's 0010088 and 0010114) and is being offered by Continuing Education and Development, Inc, a FL approved Continuing Education Provider (CEP No. 0004183).
The first part of this webinar begins with an overview of the Laws and Rules governing the practice of engineering in the State of Florida including:
- Florida Statutes, Chapter 455, "Department of Business and Professional Regulation"
- Florida Statutes, Chapter 471, "Engineering"
- Florida Administrative Code, 61G15, F.A.C., "Florida Board of Professional Engineers"
Then it continues to address the rules amended, adopted or otherwise repealed from 61G15, F.A.C. as well as the changes to Chapters 455, F.S. and 471, F.S., within the preceding biennium, as applicable.
The second part of this webinar presents engineering ethics and the principles of professional responsibility from two viewpoints. First, your conduct as a professional engineer with behavior that is unique to engineers such as stamping drawings, signing official or technical documents, preparing estimates for clients or employers, and submitting engineering reports to official agencies. Second, your behavior as a member of the larger workforce where you communicate with team members, follow company policies and procedures, and your overall behavior as part of a workplace community
Furthermore, this presentation discusses the disciplinary cases and its outcomes in situations where professional engineers have violated the requirements of professional responsibility and ethical conduct – the decisions we make when no one is watching.
This 2 PDH online live webinar is applicable to Professional Engineers licensed in the State of Florida and who are required to demonstrate continuing professional competency in the Florida Laws, Rules and Ethics as a condition of license renewal. For each renewal period, every licensee must complete eighteen (18) professional development hours as follows:
- One hour must relate to the FL laws and rules of professional engineers;
- One hour must relate to professional ethics;
- Four hours must relate to the licensee's area of practice; and
- The remaining hours may relate to any topic pertinent to the practice of engineering.
