Guide to Modern Smelting Processes

COURSE NO: T09-002
PDH CREDIT: 9
COURSE PROVIDER: Donald Parnell, P.E.
Guide to Modern Smelting Processes
Course Highlights

This online engineering PDH course provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental aspects of smelting, covering different types of smelting processes, including ferrous and non-ferrous smelting. It also addresses the challenges faced by the industry and explores topics such as green smelting, sustainability, water and energy management, and environmental concerns.

By studying this course, participants will gain a broad understanding of the principles underlying ore smelting processes. Smelting is a metallurgical procedure used to extract and purify metals from naturally occurring ores or mineral compounds. This process involves subjecting the raw materials to high temperatures and chemical reactions in order to convert them into refined metal products. The main objective of smelting is to separate the desired metal from impurities and other non-metallic elements found in the ore.

This 9 PDH online course is intended for materials and mechanical engineers, as well as other technical personnel interested in acquiring knowledge about the general principles of ore smelting processes.
