COURSE NO: R06-006
PDH CREDIT: 6
COURSE PROVIDER: Ahmad Hammouz, P.Eng.
Conceptual Microgrids Designs for Energy Resilience
Course Highlights

This online engineering PDH course offers a comprehensive introduction to microgrid energy resilience, focusing on conceptual design to improve reliability and minimize vulnerabilities during grid outages.

This course highlights the role of microgrids in enhancing energy resilience by integrating distributed energy resources and enabling grid-connected and island modes. It explores conceptual microgrid design, including scoping, data collection, and site evaluation. This course covers different topics such as defining boundaries, identifying critical loads, and assessing generation options like renewable and dispatchable energy.

The course includes tools like supervisory control and data acquisition SCADA systems and communication networks for efficient operations and draws on real-world examples, such as the Miramar Microgrid, to address risks, prioritize critical loads, and design flexible systems. It emphasizes economic and technical analyses, such as lifecycle cost assessments and resilience valuation, while focusing on policy, cybersecurity, and sustainable integration of renewable energy and storage.

This 6 PDH online course is applicable to engineers and energy managers, as well as other professionals who are interested in learning more about the conceptual design and implementation of microgrids.
