Building Online Water Quality Monitoring Stations
This online engineering PDH course can be used to design, fabricate, and install OWQM stations.
Online Water Quality Monitoring (OWQM) is a component of a Water Quality Surveillance and Response System (SRS) that involves the use of online water quality instruments for real-time measurement of water quality at one or more locations in a source water or distribution system.
This course describes the common types of OWQM stations, their applications, and the equipment required for basic stations, as well as accessories that can be added to enhance station functionality and reliability. It also covers station fabrication and installation considerations related to station fabricators, and approaches used to construct and deploy stations.
This 2 PDH online course is applicable to environmental and mechanical engineers and water sector professionals during design and implementation of OWQM stations.
This PE continuing education course is intended to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Learning about the different OWQM station structures including wall-mounted racks, free-standing racks, enclosed stations
- Knowing how to effectively deicide on the station structure type
- Understanding the application, design consideration, and the attributes of each type of stations
- Familiarizing with the station basic equipment and the station accessories
- Identifying the fabrication and site considerations
- Knowing when the OWQM station is to be a prefabricated station or constructed on-site
- Comparing between the design-build and design-bid-build project delivery approach
