Roadway Safety Assessment
Course Highlights

This online engineering PDH course provides information on road safety assessment. It addresses the common issues which exist on roadways as well as the benefits associated through implementing a proper assessment.

A Road Safety Assessment (RSA) is an evaluation of a highway improvement scheme which can be conducted at any stage in project development from planning, preliminary engineering, design and construction. It is used to identify road safety issues and suggests measures to eliminate or mitigate any concerns. In general, it is a relatively concise report with illustrations showing the main issues and the possible resolutions.

The RSA is a formal examination of the safety performance of a given roadway facility conducted by an independent and a multidisciplinary team. When properly conducted, an assessment can identify and correct regulatory deficiencies, which, in turn, improve workplace safety and help reduce liability. The importance of road safety assessments cannot be underestimated as they can be very significant in minimizing loss of lives due to crashes and reducing the costs which arise from similar occurrences.

This 1 PDH online course is applicable to transportation and civil engineers who are interested in learning more about road safety assessments and the measures taken to eliminate the most common road safety issues.
