Low Voltage Switchgear
This online engineering PDH course provides information on low voltage switchgears, their types, applications, selection and classes according to relevant standards. It addresses definitions of MCCBs, insulated case circuit breakers, power circuit breakers and fused power circuit breakers. It also addresses different monitoring and protection packages.
Low-voltage switchgear is typically used name for metal-enclosed or metal-clad low-voltage power circuit breaker switchgear rated for 600V alternating current (AC) and below. The metal-enclosed switchgear is completely enclosed on all sides and top with metal sheets and has stationary primary power circuit switching or interrupting elements, or both, with buses and connections. The metal-clad low-voltage switchgear has removable circuit breakers which are housed in individual earthed metal compartments.
This 3 PDH online course is suitable for electrical engineers with a desire to understand the fundamentals of low voltage switchgear technology. Upon successful completion engineers will have solid understanding of the low voltage switchgear technology, overcurrent protection mechanism, selection and application of the low voltage equipment, assessment of low voltage breakers service life and reference to relevant international standards.
This PE continuing education course is intended to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Learning about MCCBs
- Learning about insulated case circuit breakers, Power circuit breakers and fused power circuit breakers
- Learning about overcurrent protective devices as well as monitoring and protection packages
- Selecting and applying the low voltage equipment
- Assessing Service Life of low-voltage breakers
- Familiarizing with the endurance requirements for low-voltage breakers
