Introduction to Critical Mineral Resources of the United States

This online engineering PDH course provides introductory information on mineral resources considered to be critical in the United States.

In the past several decades many changes have taken place in the resource sector within the United States. These changes have been exacerbated by the increased use of certain elements critical to manufacturing and high technology. The mineral elements were listed as critical and (or) strategic in one or more of the recent studies based on assessed likelihood of supply interruption and the possible cost of such a disruption to the assessor.

The global demand for mineral commodities is at an all-time high and is expected to continue to increase, and the development of new technologies and products has led to the use of a greater number of mineral commodities in increasing quantities to the point that, today, essentially all naturally occurring elements have several significant industrial uses. However, many of these critical minerals are no longer mined or processed in the United States and must be imported.  

This 1 PDH online course is applicable to industrial, mining, chemical, and geological engineers that are involved with mining, processing, and industrial use of critical minerals and their chemical constituents.
