Anti-Friction Bearings Fundamentals
This online engineering PDH course describes the fundamentals, terminology, functions and design considerations of anti-friction bearings, as well as presents the different types of bearings used in various engineering applications.
Bearings allow humans to move an object on, or within, another object. Their main purpose is to extract desired motion from a whole motion. Almost all machines operate with some form of rotating, sliding or oscillation motion, and where this occurs, bearings are used.
There are two main categories of bearings; plain and anti-friction. Both bearing designs have found widespread application throughout the engineering world, but no single bearing design can cater for all applications. What are anti-friction bearings? Why are there many different types? And why does every engineer need to know a little bit about them? This course will answer all of these questions.
This 1 PDH online course is intended primarily for mechanical engineers, as well as engineers of different backgrounds who are interested in learning more about anti-friction bearings, their primary components and the different types of bearings used in engineering applications.
This PE continuing education course is intended to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Familiarizing with the history of anti-friction bearings
