An Introduction to Hospital Domestic Water Systems
This online engineering PDH course provides an introduction to the design and construction considerations for domestic water supply systems for hospitals and other health care facilities.
In order to maintain daily operations and patient care services, health care facilities need to develop an effective water supply system to prepare for, respond to, and recover from a total or partial interruption of the facilities normal water supply. Water supply interruption can be caused by several types of events such as natural disaster, a failure of the community water system, construction damage or even an act of terrorism. Because water supplies can and do fail, it is imperative to understand and address how patient safety, quality of care, and the operations of a facility will be impacted.
This 3 PDH online course is intended for mechanical engineers as well as other design and construction professionals interested in learning about, or are involved in, the design and construction of water supply systems for hospitals and other medical facilities.
This PE continuing education course is intended to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Learning about the importance of device calibration
- Understanding how domestic hot water systems in hospitals have unique requirements
- Learning about the importance of performing and witnessing tests
- Understanding the approach to design of water distribution systems
- Knowing where installation of wall hydrants is required
- Knowing where backflow preventers are required
- Understanding how solar domestic water heating can be applied in hospitals
In this professional engineering CEU course, you need to review the document titled, “An Introduction to Hospital Domestic Water Systems”.
Once you complete your course review, you need to take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of fifteen (15) questions to earn 3 PDH credits. The quiz will be based on the entire document.
