A Guide to Post-Fire Erosion Control and BMP's
This online engineering PDH course provides through theory and evaluations of prior treatment usage, the methods used in emergency response for stabilizing and protecting important regions and resources in the wake of a fire.
Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) treatments are used after a fire in order to limit or prevent effects such as topsoil erosion or flooding. This course will provide instructions, monitoring tools and references that BAER assessment and implementation teams use to identify appropriate treatments in a BAER emergency. For the purposes of the course, BAER treatments will also be referred to a post-fire best management practices (BMP’s). Each treatment method has its advantages and disadvantages, as well as different monitoring tools to measure treatment’s effectiveness after it is performed.
This online 12 PDH course is intended for civil and environmental engineers, contractors, USDA employees and others interested in learning about protecting regions and resources in the wake of a fire.
